HOT SAUCE FROG LLC

About
ME
My name is Kent Spillers. I started my tie dye hobby in June of 2024 and in August of 2024 Hot Sauce Frog LLC was born. I have a small online presence and up to this point, have made most of my sales at markets in central Iowa. I enjoy talking with people about the process as much as making a sale--I love meeting new people and welcome any and all feedback!

Who could have imagined how much one would learn through creating an LLC; looking at business and marketing analytics, shipping and other logistics, financial statements, taxes, labor law, color theory, web design, photography, and creating partnerships with vendors to name a few--I have thoroughly enjoyed all of it!

The Process
Prep and Dye
All shirts are dyed in a small batch process and up thru this point I have tried my best to not exactly duplicate/replicate my shirts. I primarily use procion dyes which means the fabric needs to be prepared prior to dyeing and this consists of soaking the garments in a soda ash solution before folding/tying. I use Gildan Softstyle shirts unless otherwise noted. For dyeing, I use a few different techniques:
-
Traditional Liquid Dye
-
Ice Dye
-
Hot/Cold Irrigation
Curing
Most shirts are cured, or rest, for 24-48hrs. In the warmer months, our homemade greenhouse serves as a perfect place to do this! As we progressed into fall and winter, I use covered bins indoors. In some cases, I have expedited the curing process by using a microwave but I make sure these shirts are labeled with this info!

Once shirts have sat they are rinsed in cold water to stop the curing process, and then hot water to remove as much excess dye as possible. They are then laundered in hot water, sans detergents and or softening agents, and tumbled dry.
Finishing
All shirts are stamped with the logo inside the left sleeve and receive a tag. Then we assign an SKU to each shirt, enter this info into the books and catalog each shirt with a picture. This info is then entered into the website and the shirt is ready for purchase.

Enjoy perusing the website!
